Russia May Hold 20% in Bulgaria Belene Nuclear Project
|
|
Bulgaria may offer Russia to become a shareholder in the planned 2,000 megawatt Belene nuclear plant on the Danube River with a 20% stake, the economy and energy minister said on Tuesday.
Russia proposed last week to extend funding to Bulgaria for the construction of the stalled project until Sofia finds a strategic investor, even without corporate or state guarantees.

EBRD Finances Bulgaria's SMEs with EUR 27,5 M

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is boosting the availability of financing in the Bulgarian real economy with two credit lines worth a total of EUR 27,5 M, the bank announced.
They have been offered to Allianz Bank Bulgaria (ABB) for on-lending to small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and for financing energy efficiency and renewable energy projects.

EC Interim Report about Bulgaria, Romania Due in March
|

The European Commission's interim report in connection with mechanisms for collaboration and control of internal affairs and justice systems in Bulgaria and Romania will be issued after March 3, according to reports.
The exact date has not been penciled in yet but it will be after March 3 due to the preparations of the EU's new strategy for sustainable growth and jobs, called Europe 2020, which will be presented on that day, the Bulgarian News Agency announced, citing well informed sources from the European Commission.

Russia Grants Bulgaria Belene NPP Loan without State Guarantee
|
|
Russia is going to grant Bulgaria a loan for the construction of the Belene Nuclear Power Plant, Energy Minister Traikov announced after meeting his Russian counterpart Shmatko.
Bulgarias Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism, Traicho Traikov, met with Russian Energy Minister Sergei Shmatko and the CEO of the Russian state company Rosatom in Sofia over the Bulgarian request for a EUR 2 B loan from Rosatom for the construction of the Belene NPP.
Traikov announced after the meeting that the Russian loan will be granted to Bulgaria without any corporate or state guarantees.
The aim of the loan is to proceed with the construction phase of the project even though a strategic foreign investor has not been selected yet as the German company RWE withdrew in the fall of 2009.

Bulgaria Tells Germany Euro Plans Firm

Bulgaria's Finance Minister Simeon Djankov has confirmed in Germany that the country will apply this year to join the exchange-rate mechanism, the two-year currency stability test prior to euro adoption.
The meeting with his German counterpart Wolfgang Schaeuble was part of a trip of Bulgaria's finance minister to member states of the eurozone.

La BERS sostiene un parco eolico

|
La Banca Europea per la Ricostruzione e lo Sviluppo (BERS) ha annunciato un prestito di 60 milioni di euro per il supporto allo sviluppo delle tecnologie per lo sfruttamento di risorse energetiche alternative.
Il prestito sara erogato ad Eolica Bulgaria per finanziare la costruzione di un parco eolico a Suvorovo nellest del Paese a 25 kilometri dalla costa del Mar Nero.

Ukraine Energy Envoy Warns of Potential Gas Payment Default
|
|
Naftogaz, the Ukrainian national energy company, will balance on the edge of defaulting on payments to Russia in 2010, according to the Ukrainian president's energy envoy.
"Regrettably, there is the threat of a default," Bohdan Sokolovskiy warned, and he urged the Ukrainian government to review its gas contracts with Russia.
